When I was a kid, I was out walking our dog with my dad in a trail in the woods, probably about 1/2 a mile off of any road. Our dog was well-behaved (RIP) and off leash.
This 1980s Karen came up to us and started yelling at my dad about leash laws, how dangerous it was to walk a dog off leash, and how he was a bad a citizen. (Our dog was just walking with us, not doing anything bad or dangerous.)
My dad didn't get mad, didn't get flustered, didn't get pissy, he just looked at her and said "what makes you think I'd want to be a 'good citizen'?" and continues walking. 1980s Karen was so shocked she didn't say a word.
I was an obedient-rule-following-tattle-tale at the time, and I was shocked. That moment has rattled around in my head for 30+ years. I think I was probably in my low 20s when I finally got it.
