If Winds of Winter ever comes out will you read it? I am honestly surprised he doesn’t just admit that he has no interest. You don’t take on multiple projects if you care about finishing. At this point I’d respect GRRM if he just said I’m not finishing and here was my planned ending.

I'll probably read it if the reviews are good. I'd rather see Patrick Rothfuss finish up The Kingkiller Chronicle.
I’m not holding my breath on that one either. I think both GRRM and Rothfuss had a REALLY cool idea for a universe/mystery/scenario, they got way more popular than either could have ever dreamed, they fucked around for years, there are now tons and tons of fan theories and incredibly high expectations, and neither of them know how to or truly want to finish the series.
Rothfuss treats his fans like shit. But he gets to launch fraudulent charity fundraisers (Worldbuilders is the charity. It has a hugely high administrative overhead and really doesn’t donate much at all to charity. It also pays a lot for warehouse space, owned by one “Elodin LLC.” Elodin LLC happens to be owned by..Patrick Rothfuss. Yet another example of a lefty taking advantage of the tax code, charitable donations, etc., to funnel more money into his pocket. Disgusting), stream online, do roleplaying shit, etc. Why write when you can just fuck around and have fans fawn over you?
GRRM is a legit superfan, and he has been his whole life. He’s been productive over his entire career, I think he just doesn’t know how to finish things off now. And when you can drive your purple Tesla around, build a tower fortification on to your house, and have “fuck you” money, why not.
Didn't know that about Rothfuss... I'll be sure to read it without paying for it, if he ever does finish.
Yeah, it was disappointing to me. I LOVED his first book, and liked the second as well. Then I went online and I am not a fan of the Rothfuss fandom or Rothfuss himself—he comes across to me as a real dick. Who knows. If ever finishes his series I’ll read it.
I’ll toss out Brandon Sanderson as a author who is hardworking, reliable, and REALLY respects his fans and fandom.
I burn through enough books I don't get too attached to individual authors... After what you've said I'm glad about that. How does the guy have a rabid fan base with such a small library?
I did meet Brandon Sanderson at a book signing once, nice guy, stayed long enough to answer questions from every person there.
Wow, a bunch of people told me to check out kingkiller Chronicles. Thanks for the heads up
Rothfuss has amazing prose. The story and main character are compelling, but it's been 10 years since his most recent full book.
It's an entertaining Mary Sue / Gary Stu story. Just keep that in mind and you'll be entertained.
He'll never finish it. He's too busy being a "celebrity", plus the way Drenna was written in the first two books wouldn't be acceptable anymore.
