L4D2 is one of those weird sequels which effectively entirely replaces its predecessor since the L4D maps were and campaign were ported over. The addition of melee weapons, more special infected, and new maps ["non linear" ones at that like with the run through the sugar mill then back again to the start during a hurricane] were a nice upgrade, however the PCs that were added in 2 always felt boring and somehow even more caricatured than 1 which had used the "grizzled biker", "old army vet", "working black man", and "girl" archetypes.
Stereotypical as they might have been, Francis, Bill, Louis, and Zoey were at least slightly interesting and fun to play as.
Coach was never going to be the kind of person to survive a zombie apocalypse with that gut he had regardless of the immunity all the players had. Nick would sell out the rest of the group if it meant saving his own skin, or if he could make some money off it. Ellis was just fucking dumb and beyond his suggestion to use the Jimmy Gibbs Jr. racing car to escape the first L4D2 campaign, nothing he ever had said was helpful. Rochelle was similar but managed to not only be just as useless as Ellis, but also less interesting than Zoey who would be her counterpart as "The chick" of the group.
Given the options between picking which groups I'd rather be with in the event of a real zombie apocalypse that order goes:
