Congress certainly took it seriously. Their body language and expressions that day, after they re-assembled in the chamber, was bone chilling - they were fucking pissed.
Easier to abuse people's rights if one feels motivated to send a message or make examples of them.

Yep. That’s the message I got. They didn’t care about the small business owners who lost everything, but inconvenience them in the least….
