I've found that most people don't put a lot of thought into their opinions on these things. If you're not a total dick to them they'll usually listen politely but be unpersuaded in the end. It doesn't mean you wasted your time, it just means they need more exposure to your ideas over time. It's very rare for a single conversation to convince someone to change their minds, if only because of inertia. It took me years of being unconformable with the left's tactics to embrace the right. It would have taken longer if the retards in charge of my state had left me the fuck alone.
