I liked those books as a teenager and I've noticed that a lot of books or tv shows I liked as a teenager are not that good, I would say you can go ahead and read Interview with a Vampire, is a short book so you do not waste to much time and judge it by yourself. If you like it you can read the other 2, there are others in the vampire series but I remember not being a fan of them.
