I hate spoilers more than anyone, but if someone would have told me that Luke Skywalker was killed off in The Last Jedi and that it was a woke piece of shit that ruined Star Wars, I would have thanked them and avoided giving Disney the $10.00.
They've ruined:
Star Wars
Star Trek
Ghostbusters
Dr. Who
Terminator
Indiana Jones (if you believe the rumors)
and now James Bond
Let's push back.
Foundation. Race and sex swapping of Seldon's lackey; lead character (Hari Seldon) is still an older white dude, but is killed by some random black dude.
And I'd sooner see Benji play James Bond if they're going to use anything but a white Englishman/Scotsman.
Tbf all the British Isles have worked in the past, 1, Connery [Scotland], 3, Moore [England], 4, Dalton [Wales, kind of], 5, Bonsnan [RoI]. Craig as 6 was OK but Casino Royale was also the post Austin Powers films where they wanted the Bond films to be more serious, and that meant "dark and gritty". Lazenby as 2 obviously didn't go down too well given they brought back Connery after that despite Connery never really bothering to hide his accent as some actors can do.
David Tennent for example put on an estuary accent when playing the 10th Doctor and even used his natural Scots accent during the Torchwood origin episode in Doctor Who. Fans of the show that don't look beyond that might never realise what he actually sounds like, similar to those who saw him in Jessica Jones as Kilgrave.
Yeah, Tennant blows my mind. Never heard of him before Who, was surprised to find out he was actually a Scot, and he does the voice of both Scrooge McDuck and the friggin' Lord Commander (Final Space). Almost as trippy as Luke Skywalker as The Best Joker.
I just added "Scot" as a kind of afterthought because I almost forgot about Connery. I kind of preferred him in anything but Bond movies, and I guess "my" Bond would be Roger Moore.
Tennent is also a random viking [the one with the shortest beard] in the How to Train Your Dragon films as he did the audio books for the original story. It's very much a "blink and you'll miss it" character though but the few times you hear him it also becomes more obvious it's him.
Mine is Brosnan, Goldeneye was the first Bond I saw properly on a cinema screen rather than TV reruns or vhs. Plus Goldeneye the N64 game was an unparalleled cultural icon around the same time, [Halo focused more on online play], in part as the N64 was a built in/single console 4 way multiplayer while at best the PSX and XBox were only 2. It's spiritual successor, Perfect Dark, is one of the few games I consider superior to its predecessor without fucking something up. Which the actual Perfect Dark sequel after that did 🙄
How do you feel about him in The Rock? :p
