Hey guys, trying to crowdsource some advice here. My mother called me in tears because her job's mandating the vax. Without getting too specific, she works for the federal government and lives in a red state. She's really in a panic because she thinks everyone who gets the jab is gonna die within 5 years. I can't in good conscience recommend she get vaxed, despite that fear likely being overblown, just due to the other potential side effects of this mrna jab.
Anyways, I had no real advice for her. I managed to refrain from being a dick for no reason and saying she should've planned for this months ago when I was worrying about it. But my solution (get fired and live like a neet off savings for a while), isn't going to work for her.
Only advice I could give was:
A) forget about the 30 years you've worked there and try to find a new job
B) hold out as long as possible and hope the mandate's rescinded (unlikely)
C) find a doctor who'll forge a vax pass for you/do it yourself
D) religious exemption, but she's said she can't find any info on how to do that
I'm drawing blanks on anything else, and it's killing me inside to hear my mom so worked up. Sorry about the personal rant, but any advice would be appreciated!
Of all the people having to deal with this, she is probably in the best position to at least try to fight back: in the US, where you have a constitution that's more than just a piece of paper, in a red state where she will likely find at least some community support if she chooses to push back.
I don't know the details of the situation, but just rolling over and letting her job go without even trying to fight for it seems like the last thing she should be considering.
