Much like Apple, Nintendo has long had a cult of fans who will mindlessly buy and defend their every move simply because it's Nintendo.
When the Switch was first launched the cult was weakened due to the screwup that was the Wii U. Now that the Switch has been a smash hit the cult is as strong as ever.
I don't say this to bash Nintendo. Among the console makers they seem to be the least woke (although their US division is certainly woke) and they make some great games. Some of their fans just take it too far.
I haven't been keeping up with gaming news much, but I heard a lot of chatter about Gran Turismo 7, because I am a bit of a stickler for a good racing sim.
After watching the trailer and checking out a few news stories, I discovered that the game's main campaign mode will require a constant internet connection.
Did the Sony PS5 owners recoil in disgust for having to be online at all times to play through the campaign? Nope. If you check some of the usual places they're complacent enough to say "Well, they want to stop cheaters, so I guess it's fine."
Fanboys for any megacorp are pretty disgusting individuals. But then again, it's part of a larger symptom of indoctrinated compulsory consumerism, where people feel they need to subject themselves to the corporatocracy.

That same logic applies to Sony as well.
