It's clear that the "average American" has been fully convinced to disregard their own experience and judgements in favor of whatever the sanctioned experts declare.

Be it diseases, sexuality, or discrimination, they will parrot views that are wildly incongruous with their personal experience once there's enough top-down social pressure.
