You're better off using VPNs (yes, plural. One is no good. Use at least two.) , deleting your accounts regularly and registering with false information where possible.
The only thing Proton might be good for is an email to dump all those stupid "sign up to read this" accounts on.
I'm aware of that. When you stick with mainstream services, you are more careful.
