I think the problem is it's impossible to see it coming because it only shows signs when it's already too late.

The other issue is where the pancreas is located anatomically.

If you look at a 3-D model (or study anatomy with cadavers) of where your pancreas is located in your abdomen, you really how difficult it is for a surgeon to access the organ every if surgery was a viable option.
