"Additionally, Xi has started to crack down on foreign investment due to pressure from the more traditionally Communist wing of the party, and it’s actually starting to get the attention of investors like Bloomberg, to the point they are finally starting to say “Hey, wait a minute. Maybe it isnt such a good idea to invest in China.”
THIS is what's most likely to fuck China the most. The old guard commies wanting to be Maoist lite and pushing Ping to do it.
At least from what I have heard, a lot of manufactures are starting to leave China now. A consequence of the population bomb that China is currently going through (due to their One-Child Policy blowing up in their face) is that Chinese labor is no longer as cheap as it used to be. So now you have companies, who were already sick and tired of having their IP stolen and then sold back to them for pennies, looking for new nations to build out into. I have seen it with my own job, where a lot of the clothing we sell has gone from "Made in China" to "Made in Guatemala", "Made in El Salvador", and I have seen some of our new shoes with "Made in Vietnam".
I also remember Walmart saying they were going to move a lot of their production to India. And since Walmart is the largest importer in the country, a lot of smaller companies will piggyback on their trade routes because its cheaper that way.
I really do think a lot of what we are seeing go down with China is them being at the end of their rope and starring down a "Collapse of the Soviet Union" tier event, and they are scrambling to make it stop.
Don't think it'll got full Soviet collapse but it'll hurt them, probably bring them back to where they were after the tienamen square massacre and if we're REALLY lucky they'll start having the full Soviet in a few years or so. They're sneaky as fuck too, they label things made in other countries and have them shipped through allies like Pakistan and Cambodia to the open market or just stick them straight on Amazon, Ebay and Etsy without middleman and labeled as either Hong Kong or not disclosed unless you look at the city it's shipping from AFTER the purchase which is always a mainland city, specifically Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen being the usual spots.....Not to mention the popularity of Wish and Alibaba.
