You have been lucky, most guys I know have not been. Even my own mom, while not a bad mom has made me dislike my dad for most of my youth, it was only after he died that I realized how manipulative she has been and that my father only did the best he could and put up with her because he loved me and my brother.

Luckily I moved passed it now and we are in ok relations.
