When my parents retired they moved to about 20 miles away from me and they had a lot of stuff in boxes that belonged to my siblings and I. They had some of my old gaming magazines from the 90s. It was so nice to read a gaming magazine where the main focus was on games or to read interviews with game developers that talked about games and not the diversity of the staff or whatever woke trendy talking points you hear today. You could also see that they had an actual interest in video games.
Just made me think what a great time the 80s - Early 2000s were for nerdy stuff. All the cool online forums in the 90s/Early 2000s as well as nerd websites that had a weird concept of marketing to nerds.
So pretty much all these sites/gaming magazines were bought by corporations who are obsessed with chasing the mythical female audience? Ignoring the fact that there are already women who are in the hobby?
I don't understand these companies. I live in Texas where bbq is very popular. It would be like my favorite bbq place getting bought out by vegans and then all the meat product being phased out. Instead of understanding who their customers are they attack them.
Probably one of the most head scratching examples of this was when I heard that Disney originally bought Star Wars because they wanted something that appealed to boys. Then Kathleen Kennedy droned on and on about how no girls were in Star Wars. I remember at that time wondering how she had worked at Lucasfilms so long and didn't know much about Star Wars. There were always female fans and as a longtime reader of the old EU books/comic books (that she apparently didn't know about) I can attest to the fact that a lot of women read those. But I guess they weren't the type of female fans she wanted.
I would so love to tell some board of an entertainment company that some hobbies will always appeal to more men than women and vice versa and that is OK. Stop trying to force stories that nobody wants, and to gaming companies..... people want games, not some social commentary. There are plenty of news outlets for that.
It's not even about chasing females (no company who has put females at the forefront of their game design have profited more than they did during the seventh gen).
All the stats show females just don't care about all the properties that are being usurped by SJWs. Here's Quantic Foundry's stats to back it up (sales data reflects these figures as well): https://archive.is/sclVp
Notice female gamers don't like shooters, sports games, or racing games. Yet those are all being reoriented to focus on the female market.
Well, it has more to do with indoctrinating males than it does with getting girls to play. If it were actually about profit they would just flood mobile phones with more casino, casual, social, and match-3 puzzle games and then market the crap out of them like they did that Kim Kardashian or Taylor Swift game. Since, majority of actual female gamers are casuals glued to their phones.
Yet they're not really doing that are they? They're turning Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Star Wars into feminist havens. Why is that?
Well, the current generation of gamers may hate it, but the next generation will grow up in a society where that's the only thing available. They won't be inundated with masculine heroes like Duke Nukem or Blake Stone; they won't have guys like Soap winning the day, or Nathan Hale nearly single-handedly preventing alien invasions.
They'll have a lot of Leftist propaganda to consume with ugly lesbian female heroines at the forefront of every major franchise and property. Sure they can go back and play the old stuff, but it'll be out of the way or won't work on most newer machines without some workarounds. In short, people willing to consume masculine media will be the fringe minority. People consuming feminist/tranny/Rainbow Reich propaganda will be the majority.
It's all part of the long game.
As others mentioned,it's about creating a unified message.
Notice that what's happening in games has already thoroughly infected mainstream comic books, young adult novels, the sci-fi literature market, and majority of everything on streaming, TV, and even blockbuster movies. It's about indoctrinating an entire generation across every medium, and, sadly, unless people revolt in an insuppressible way, I think it may end up working.
You're exactly right. It's about destroying every space or route that people communicate through or enjoy. They usurp, control, then turn it into propaganda.
Its all about demoralizing and isolating people so they can't even have hobbies that aren't under the sway of Marxism.
