They don't care who put up the monuments. They are taking them down because they represent white people's achievements. No matter how "progressive" that person was at the time, because they were white or represent white interests and depict that in the physical world, it must be destroyed.
Well you missed my admittedly between-the-lines point.
It was the democrats wot put them up to celebrate the dead heroes of their hopeless cause, and I don't give a flip if they tear them down, because I'm from a town that has been voting republican since the days when that meant sheltering John Brown (which we did, btw).
If they want to bury their shame and forget the war they lost then why would I want to stop them?
This isn't about republican vs. democrat, this is about white vs. anti-white. It doesn't matter how non-racist you are, whether in the 1800's or now. You will eventually have your legacy destroyed and defaced if you are white or help support white interests.
It didn't matter how many times Robert Byrd and Joe Biden were photographed together, blacks voted for Biden at a higher margin than they voted for Obama.
Define legacy.
All of your accomplishments. Anything you made will be either destroyed or subverted and used to further things that you hate. It doesn't matter if it's a company, an entertainment property, a building, a statue, etc.
