I feel that nerdy stuff became trendy with Big Bang Theory and MCU movies. I remember thinking that was a good thing but now I know better. What is weird is that once nerd culture became mainstream and it became fashionable to say you read comic books or played video games that is when the attacks on nerds (especially white males) started in full force.
Why do you think that it happened that way. Partly due to the large number of feminists who weren’t real fans getting involved in the hobbies. But I’m still surprised to this day how it all went down and definitely miss the days when you were made fun of for liking these things.
Easy answer, this is the response by those losing power to those winning power. The invaders are evil, we are pure and virtuous is being declared as the importance of sports and big society are losing importance everywhere.
Now they want to mold it to look like things it had been like before. Comics are important, but only if large society has power, and it only works if the socialites have power.
It's one of the reasons why I hate the way we teach history. A giant change came, and everyone just went with it? No, not even close. Wars were fought between countries that no longer exist, over power and trade that no longer works. Then we say the new thing just plowed through without any problems, instead of the riots and laws that tried to stop it.
This is that same time of change as the others.
