I'm worried about this for obvious reasons, but I'll be damned if the trailer, and the director's breakdown of said trailer, don't make me a bit optimistic. The fact that the director is Reitman's son is also a good sign. Again, I'm worried because I know how Hollyweird likes to shit up old franchises, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Anyone else have hopes or concerns?

Well one good thing is that it is pissing off the shills who attacked everyone that didn’t like the 2016 version. My annoyance with that was that no exec said “hey guys wouldn’t it make more sense to do part three or a passing of the torch? Nobody is asking for a female reboot”.
I've noticed that as well. The focus on family and finding your history seems to annoying all the right people as well. I've also seen a few dipshits get mad that the main character (Egon's granddaughter?) seems to actually be an outcast and a geek rather than a trendy "nerd", gamergirl-type.
I want to have hope for this movie but in the current era I’m so cynical.
I'm right there with you my dude. 10 year old me is super excited. Modern me is cynical and worried. Guess we'll see.
No high level exec said it, but Akroyd and Ramis had been asking for that for years.
Has Akroyd said anything about the reboot?
When you say "reboot" do you mean the 2016 movie or the one being discussed here? (which looks like a proper sequel)
If you mean 2016, he had a cameo and financial interest and wouldn't attack it too much, but he was very clear in interviews that he was not pleased with the direction Paul Feig took it and how it was managed. (on the other hand he said "it was a great movie" and "those girls were superb!") He's excited about the new movie which he's also involved with.
Yes I meant the 2016 version.
