What does it say about your reboot strategy when the best way to preserve fan interest is to deliberately lie about what is in the show? Instead of embracing the woke feminist direction as something he believes is legitimately good and worthwhile and attractive to viewers, Kevin Smith ran from it as decisively as he could. That's a pretty direct acknowledgement that such content is largely unwanted.
So they know this shit isn't popular, and yet they once again chose that direction. Sorta confirms the notion that most of this leftist idiocy in entertainment is ideologically motivated even to the utter detriment of profit.
With that in mind, I'm thinking maybe the lie wasn't just about duping more people into watching the show. Maybe leftist subversives can't get off unless the old school fans are actually ambushed by the destruction of their favorite franchises. I mean what joy is there in tearing down a man's childhood favorites if he's already resigned to your subversion? If he sees you coming from a mile away, you won't be able to extract the same satisfaction from his muted disappointment and frustration.
Sounds almost insane, but would you really put it past these people? One of the more choice critic reviewers even says that she enjoys the show primarily because she knows it pisses off the old school male fans. That's the level of petty spite and envy we are dealing with here.
While I'm usually a fan of the aphorism "never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by stupidity", the level of stupidity that the wokies tend to exhibit in situations like these seems to point to them trying to pull the wool over the fans' eyes while using the excuse of playing dumb or only telling half-truths. This isn't the first time we've seen them try to pull this shit, and in the grand scheme of things it falls under the category of "once is an accident, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action."
I think they knew well in advance if they let everyone know that it was all about Teela (and Adam was straight-up DEAD), they wouldn't be able to sucker in the existing fandom views. As such, they had to lie about it if they wanted to drag in views, and once the person had viewed the first episode it wouldn't matter because it's all about that count on the premiere episode.
I think you're on to something with them having a visceral reaction to the outrage of fans of existing properties. It's like they're sitting behind their keyboards, furiously jerking off as they read the comments and see the videos of fans decrying their actions. The wokies really don't care about profit if their actions manage to destroy or subvert an existing institution or property, because once they drive the fans away it becomes theirs to grind into the dirt.
Yeah, the Social Justice Racketeers are typically both stupid and highly malicious. They're not normal people, and can't be treated as such.
You're missing the qualifier "all other things being equal" - foreknowledge of the character and motivations of the Left upsets that balance. We know they are malicious, and therefore malice as motivation requires fewer assumptions than it does for a normal person, and is more likely to be correct.
