Here's a fun update on the conspiracy theory then:
COVID antibody tests do not detect the vaccine's presence. The vaccine does not make COVID antibodies, straight up. Several labs have this in their antibody test disclaimers. It might make something that helps fight the 'rona, but it isn't an antibody.
The USA was doing gain-of-function and bioweapons research in that Coronavirus Gain Of Function lab that totally had nothing to do with a Coronavirus gaining function. Also fact.
You can reasonably assume the US government doesn't do things in tiny, singular batches, so there's likely at least a half dozen other labs also doing it. Theory, but reasonable theory.
Thus: The vaccine isn't for THIS virus. After all, it doesn't even give you any detectable antibodies! Clearly, it's for the next one. Then everyone who wasn't a good sheep dies off.
How's that for an update to the conspiracy theory to mke it mesh with your issues about counter-intuitiveness? The fun thing with conspiracy theories is you're allowed to inject a random outside variable like that.
Possibility? Yes. Likely? No. It would require too many people to be quiet. You can silence people pretty easily, but at the same time, the moment a word is spoken aloud, it can't be taken back. We know the contents of random laptops of children of politicians and their quid pro quo affairs, we know how generals intentionally lied to Trump and disobeyed orders. Both resulted in no punishments or legal actions, but we do KNOW of them. Punishment and justice are very, very rare. But knowledge is very common.
Even if not a whistleblower, someone would be a moron and make a "apocalypse selfie" on instagram or something. Because people are very, very stupid. Too many moving parts, something's going to squeak.
So possible, sure, but not likely. It would take a large number of highly educated hypervigilant zealots who have no leaks via morality OR moronity.
Which could happen! Especially in China! But even then, we know the IDs and names of every scientist in Wuhan, despite China suppressing that info since day negative sixty.
Thanks. So under that line of reasoning, there may not even be a population control aspect or anything intentionally nefarious to the vaccine - it is just a big money making scheme?

Rumsfeld was right about the problem of unknown unknowns.
I’ve actually worried about this.
Do you think this is a legit possibility?

That seems like the most logical conclusion, but by no means is there sufficient evidence yet to declare it the accurate one.
