I'm waiting for the moment when Hallmark realizes that their viewing audience is overwhelmingly female and they decide that since it has become a "girls club" they need to inject masculine themes and more blood, guts, and violence into their movies to appeal to this untapped male audience. Who knows, maybe they will hire some men to screech on social media about the lack of representation.
I do think that would be a good satire with the proper writing, but to be fair for as sappy as it is I remember talking to some people before Sunday school a few weeks back about how refreshing Hallmark is because it is nice to see movies where two heterosexuals meet and fall in love and there is no lecturing about whatever current woke trend is going on. Although they are getting pressure from LGBT groups, they would be wise to understand who their audience is.
I enjoy reading all kinds of books and occasionally will read a romance novel. Never bothered me that it is a genre fill with female fans. It takes a special kind of arrogance to enter a space and then demand everything revolve around you.
I do expect a lot more LGBT influences, they did mention something about it a while back in relation to their Christmas movies.
Honestly it kind of sucks if they do this, my wife likes to watch them and I did watch a couple of them.
I doubt she would ever watch one with gays and trans as the major plot.
I’m all for people living how they want but if there is a romance element I want to see a man and woman. Don’t think that makes me a bad person. I’ve been saying for years that lgbt groups need their own channel/streaming service.
Torchwood was good despite fast forwarding certain parts. I’ve read good murder mysteries with gay side characters but the focus was on solving the murder. I’m not interested in something that focuses heavily on lgbt. Make your own network.
Just because I do not want to go to a gay bar does not mean I hate gay people. Is a question of taste. The same can be applied to any medium, if I have to chose between having gay characters or not I would chose not. This does not mean I would not watch a movie cause they have gays in it but I would not go to watch Brokeback Mountain.
Good points all around.
They already do, it's called Logo.
But that isn't enough. They literally have to spread their ideological disease everywhere and it won't be stopping anytime soon, even for Hallmark.
The Gaystapo wants 20% of all on-screen characters part of the Rainbow Reich community: https://www.glaad.org/sites/default/files/GLAAD%20WHERE%20WE%20ARE%20ON%20TV%202019%202020.pdf
This is despite gays and lesbians specifically only making up 1.6% of the population.
Can you say over-representation?
Anyway, Hallmark is done for. They've already caving to the mob pressure: https://celebratingthesoaps.com/hallmark/hallmark-channel-news-more-lgbt-movies-coming-despite-criticism/
They've been slipping in Rainbow Reich characters into their movies more frequently but even that isn't enough. The Loonies on the Left now want more focus on their degenerate lifestyle, having their own channel and characters being featured regularly across every single other mainstream network and streaming service isn't enough. They want to penetrate the viewing audience of the last straight, white entertainment bastion.
And I'm not kidding about Hallmark's straight, white audience. Majority of their viewers (75%) clock in as mostly straight females between the ages of 18 and 60 years of age, with the 50+ crowd making up 70.2% of the female-viewing audience: https://www.nationalmediaspots.com/network-demographics/Hallmark.pdf
Those same females make up the majority of the 4 million viewers they top out at for their (weirdly) popular Christmas romance films: https://www.businessinsider.com/hallmark-channel-christmas-movies-with-lacy-chabert-candace-cameron-bure-2017-10
I tend to doubt grandmas are all that interested in Luke's transition into Lucy as he attempts to date Gay Gary.
But but there is an untapped market!!!! lol
