Why is Edinburgh trying to be London? Did the comedy festival change them or something?
If they want to decolonize, will that mean saying Edinburgh with the actual original pronunciation before the Vikings came? What about teaching Scots as an actual language?
It's been trying that for years. One big reason is the class divide comparing Edinburgh with the OF Scotland, hell even just Glasgow.
Edinburgh is a very, very rich population and often derided for being essentially England at times because of things that don't happen anywhere else IN Scotland bar sometimes St Andrews for similar reasons but due to the student population in that case.
Voting wise this manifests as Edinburgh being one of the few places that repeatedly votes Labour [Edinburgh Central] to the point the seat in question is a running joke it will be Labour long after the heat death of the universe.
The fact this is happening in Edinburgh of all places doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Likewise had it been St Andrews again it wouldn't be shocking in any sense. Both are very much the focal points for wokesters in Scotland these days.
I was just thinking about Glasgow and you answered my question. It has a similar status, but not as much wealth. I'm sure there are pockets, but they probably moved to London to get career.
