Go to a game developers convention (any, not necessarily gdc) or an independent game developers association (igda) meet up. They are everywhere. A lot are unemployed, but sadly not all.
They’re all in the AAA games industry because they’ve created a natural filter. If you have the software engineering skills to justify a decent job at one of these corporate studios you’d have to be hyper passionate about the field to take on the shitty quality of life and pay that’s comparatively low to a “regular” tech job. BUT, if you’re actually passionate about games you’d never actually want to work at EA or Activision in the first place. The only people they can keep are lunatics like these and they’re just continuing to coalesce.
Seriously, where do these morons come from? I have yet to encounter even one in real life.
