I kinda wonder what things look like after they've forced electric cars. There's no way we have the power production to support even 25% of cars being electric. I suppose a shortage of power is just another opportunity for them to seize more control.
I mean, California is experiencing rolling blackouts (again) and right now they're asking people to not charge their vehicles because of it. It's going about as well as you'd expect.
And honestly I can't see mandates to only drive electric cars as anything other than a poor tax. "Oh, sorry that you can't afford a new vehicle because we banned the affordable ones for your status. Guess you just have to give up your freedom of movement and take the bus with the other poors."
It's super easy to scare their people with too.

Yup. The California grid can't handle current demand and only 3% of cars registered there are electric.
