Taxing asset gains regardless of whether the asset is sold or not is a horrendous idea.
I agree, taxing income should never have occurred. Taxes on purchases were the only rational tax because they were voluntary.
Imagine the extra reporting required to file a brand new WEALTH TAX -
every property would need to be valued every year.
Every bank account would have to be declared.
It could almost double the current (wasted) effort
I'm really tired of this narrative. Everyone would love the Trump tax cuts if they had any other name attached. It's not hard to glance at the changes, and see that most low and middle class families save a measurable amount of money under the tax cut. It's even worse when some politicians portray repealing them wholesale as a win for the middle class.
Shouldn't have said it was ok for the government to steal from the rich. Shouldn't have acted surprised when the government extended it's reach to the middle and lower classes. That's what envy gets you. Yet people still haven't learned and continue to try and get even more money from the wealthy, with policies that will ultimately cut into the middle and lower classes and make everyone poorer. Cut taxes.
... off at the source; repeal the 16th.
Amen.
