This was only natural given that virtually all incursions into gaming, as well as the pathetic state of videogame journalism, were clearly the result of radical left-wing infiltration and subversion. Every anti-gamergate pundit was openly some form of marxist/progressive. It was plainly obvious that gamergate was part of a larger and more important culture war being waged against us by the Left.
The mods of kia1, being crypto lefties and also polyamorous losers (literally), decided to "narrow" the focus of the sub to only videogames. They did this against the wishes of the community as determined by an actual vote, which the mods ignored. It became clear that they were enforcing this rule arbitrarily and selectively in order to prevent stories and ideas that made leftists look bad or conservatives look good.
So at the most basic level, the split happened because of censorship. You know the saying that any uncensored space inevitably becomes right-wing because leftism requires censorship to survive? Kia1 is proof of that.
