Playing through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition I noticed a trend that becomes blatant trend in the resulting story loss, in the first game we have extraordinary diverse characters in both personalities and demographics, but the socjus is seen if a few characters like the xenophobic (racist) XO, who later conforms and even grows fond of the diverse crowd. All in all the game represented a wide, new story full of lore and inter species squabbling who have to unite to fight the big bad. By the second game we see far more cringe socjus like Jacob being a black man whose dad abandoned him, legion calling it racist to assess a different species off of your species ethics, etc. but still the worst is the ever present squad interactions of whose the victim (tali and legion, Miranda and Jack, etc). By the third Shepherd is in full white savior mode solving each and every deep species resentment to unify and fight the reapers. This story shift takes a drastic turn from space soldier fighting baddies to shepherd being the diplomat extraordinare. This left turn was the feminization of the story, you are no longer a soldier in war, but the “breaker of chains”.
