I am not a huge fan.... it is kinda weird and does some annoying stuff... but yeah it isn't the worst movie in the world [COUGH ALIEN RESURRECTION COUGH] but some of the stuff they did was just terrible especially for the way the series was. Just to throw away Newt and Hicks like yesterday's garbage was the worst.
Now Alien 4.... or whatever it was called.... I remember ONE thing I liked about that movie [the alien killing the other alien to spill the acid to get out I thought was kinda a neat idea... although I guess they could have just cut themselves a bit but I guess same thing] but everything else in that movie. I mean the whole movie is like sigourney weaver is looking so sad she has to even say the lines they are making her say "Who do I have to F*** on this ship..." [or something like that]. So much about tha tmovie ...
Weaver banning the production from using guns was pants-on-head retarded.
Her being a producer on the film resulted in the film being far worse off then it had any right to be. The behind the scenes nonsense just made it worse.
I tried to give it a chance by watching the assembly cut but I still hate that movie with a burning passion, especially what they did to Newt and Hicks.
Not just guns, "no weapons of any kind".

That is what really killed Alien 3 for me. Throwing away Newt and Hicks like they never mattered. Honestly it turning out that way actually makes Aliens a worse movie because basically so much done to save the girl... just was a worthless waste. I guess if you want a nihilistic overtone that works but as far as actually it being a good movie, it just outright sucks.
I mean think about it, Alien 3 actually somehow made Aliens [which is an excellent movie] a WORSE movie just by Alien 3 coming out. So I just dont' even consider alien 3 cannon. I don't think it is unreasonable to say though that it actually does lower the impact of a ton of the previous movie with what they did to them.
100% agree.
I liked that Neil Blompkamp was going to retcon Aliens 3 and bring back Newt and Hicks to continue the story where it should have left off. I really would have preferred that over the abomination that was Alien: Covenant.
