Beyond that, I thought it played extremely well, the fact there was progression between runs is something I wish more roguelikes would do, and I actually LOVED the story of it.

An interesting game in that style is Prey Mooncrash. It's probably more fun if you played the original Prey but the gameplay is totally different.
