It sounds like an anime or video game and even has some anime chick in the logo but every time I see topics from here come up on my feed they are always political in nature.
Are you like some video game message board that spun-out into into meta memes and topics about anything like GameFAQs LUE or something?
As someone who was not on KiA(2) on Reddit so a bit different of a background, I don't think your beliefs in the other post would be too extreme for here. There's loads of extreme opinions. I share a lot of those beliefs as well. Now of course part of it is in how you present them. If you're willing to read others posts and have actual discussion, none of that will be a problem.
With respect to anime, I would expect that to be at least a bit contentious. Particularly if you're calling for censorship of it. This group tends to lean very heavily anti-censorship in general, so that alone will get you. Still if you're not an asshole about it you'll get a good discussion, just don't expect an echo chamber.
I would encourage you to broaden your knowledge on anime though, as I get the idea that you only associate anime with porn and sexy stuff. actually find I enjoy the basic run-of-the-mill shonen anime for having character development and good story, and since it's geared towards young teen boys it's a lot more things like friendship, teamwork, etc. It's far, far, far, far from cartoon porn. Myself, I think most of the loliporn stuff is kinda sick and should be held to the same censorship level as actual porn. Meaning restricted to NSFW tagged 18+ places. I don't call for total banning of such things, because in general censorship is a no-go for me.
I've watched a number of anime but there's a serious problem when 30yo men are obsessed with it, especially considering most of it is coming-of-age stories. There's some real creepy anime lovers out there. Every second girl seems to "love Disney", k fine, I get that, though modern Disney is a joke. But imagine if every second guy you met "loves Disney", that's what a lot of the anime guys seem like. It's cringe. There is some great anime out there and I wouldn't knock any guy who watched one here or there and especially in k-12 school with the occasional adult watching an adaptation here or there or for nostalgia but to outright be involved in "anime culture" is cringe.
That's my take anyway.
I would only advocate for censoring hentai. I think public shaming would be sufficient for adult anime culture.
And go.
Get over yourself. Let people enjoy their Chinese cartoons.
Yeah I would tend to agree with what I think you're saying regarding "being involved in anime culture." I'm not sure I'd go as far as public shaming, that would depend on the level of involvement. I'm late 30s, and when it comes to lighthearted entertainment, I do find I lean towards things below my age group both in games and video. Not really books, I tend to read a lot more historical things and non-fiction. Kids books would bore me to death. I have no shame in that I like that stuff. I mean I could go fill my head with sex-centric identity politics on Netflix instead, and well I'd rather not.
I do think the difference you may be getting to is where these things the fabric of that adult's being and well I agree with you there. If you were to ask me to define myself, anime is so far down the list I'd wear you out with things before that. I'd probably have gamer on the list much higher, but even then I'd try to drown that out with hiking, biking, cars, planes, photography, programming, travel, history, some sports, etc. because while I do like games and spend a lot of time on them, I'm not into what most people perceive as gamer culture.
