Gross.
Looked at a sub from my hometown. There was a thread about islamic caterwauling, which didn't exist when I left in 1998. There were words like "wholesome" in the replies.
Up until about the early 80s, the air used to be filled with the sound of church bells. The first to go were the bells at midnight on New Year's and Christmas Eve. Shift work town, people need to sleep. Even if it's a stat and there's no Sunday shopping and everything is mandatorily closed and no one needs to get up for work on Christmas or New Year's. Nope.
Then the Sunday and Wednesday afternoon bells sort of faded away. I don't recall hearing bells pretty much anywhere on my subsequent travels on Sundays, anywhere, anymore. Maybe I just don't notice, that ol' selective hearing and all. Why? Noise bylaws, probably.
Yet the same people dripping "wholesome" about some muslim wailing worse than a cat in heat, are probably the same people who would bitch about church bells on New Year's Eve.
I hate that city. Glad I left. Wish I had been born elsewhere as pretty much any other species.
