young people now think their ancestors were all stupid. They dont realize that everything they are attempting to do now in terms of relationships: poly, FWB, hookup culture, whatever it is, was all tried before and what was not successful was discarded or those people doing it died out, what succeeded is what we still have today and we call it "tradition".

Young people think traditions are just "that is how we have always done it", and not "we do it this way because it works, and has worked this way for a very long time".
