Something worth mentioning: they were already "top of the food chain" within the organization and it was their subordinates who were trying to push them out. While it is absolutely commendable how they stood their ground and saved their organization, their strategy is a completely different one from that of a low-level employee at Woke Capital where social justice initiatives come from the top and filter their way down to your level.
Even if you convince your boss, and maybe even your boss's boss, there still may be a half-dozen layers above that; and at a certain level they may not even care about the soundness of your arguments but are simply going along to climb up the food chain.
