I just watched Minority Report last night, and the climax ends with the bad guy being "outed" by some video footage at a party in his honor.
All I thought in the moment was, "yeah, video footage isn't going to be enough. People will look at that, not know what's going on, and go back to honoring the murderer."
People just want to be told what to think to make them a "good person." Facts don't matter.
So like the end of Idiocracy where everyone starts believing him when a live feed of the plants growing was shown, except in real life, the people would try to make up a different reason for why the plants started growing rather than accepting the truth.
They've been caught red handed repeatedly for decades now, and they just keep getting more brazen.
The truth doesn't matter. Nobody cares.
