The one on the left sounds like it was written by someone uncomfortable that the ramifications of what they were saying could be considered "subversive", so they had to throw in "but I'm grateful for modern medicine" as a little shibboleth to show that it wasn't intended to be.
It reminds me of a leftist acquaintance who used to constantly complain about all the ways the VA hospital screwed up the care of one of his relatives, but at the end of his complaining would always end with "but they do good work" because god forbid an american leftist criticize a nationalized health system.
Take away the last panel and it sounds like the author has a crimethink in the back of her head: "is the cure worse than the disease?". Then the last panel is the crimestop: "but I'm much better now; thank you medicine".
Perhaps the circlejerk is a celebration of the crimestop?
