Hawaii is an Asian majority. They are financially left wing but oddly socially right wing on a lot of things. They did not pass gay marriage. They did not pass weed legalization, their gun laws aren't as strict as California's, yet they're huge fans of Bernie.
Hawaii's Asian majority has a distinct split between the Gen X/Boomer population vs. the millennial population just like the US - same kind of split. The boomers/Gen X are very moderate, Trumpian even, but the millennials are AOC retards and are the types to push the conversation to the left. A lot of these boomer types just follow along because they don't really pay attention to politics - too many normies.
Our second most populus group are whites. A lot of them are boomers, but we also have a glut of millennial whites as well, and they're AOC-tards.
Hawaii has no Republican party that is a significant power. It's like how weak the Libertarian party in the federal conversation is - they exist, but at but that's about it.
Why would they not, they are POC so they benefit directly from that.

But non-white politician issues got way better, like donations from the Open Society Foundation and William Fence.
Just remember, Hawaii has no black population.
