Game Grumps host Dan Avidan was allegedly caught grooming a 17 yo so that he could begin a sexual relationship with them when they hit adulthood, though it appears that the allegation against him has less weight than the one against shmorky as it started at 22 rather than 18 like in shmorky's case.
He and his co-host had previously defended blm during the 2020 regressive leftist riots.

The USA is kind of unusual in having their age of emancipation/consent at 18, and I don't even think it's been that way for all that long (look at all the songs from the 1950s about "sweet sixteen". Why the hell do you think 16 was an age to make a big deal over? It wasn't about the damn driver's license.)
It's 16 in Canada, and most other places as well, I think. You only need your parent's permission to get married or join the regular armed forces; for everything else, you're good to go off on your own if you want.
US culture is infantalizing its people, like, hard. There's no way a 17 year old should be treated or considered the same as a five year old. It's ridiculous. But humans have that problem of going from one extreme to another - Western civ has gone from treating kids like shit/disposable commodities to treating them like sacred things to be sheltered and coddled until a certain age (and then suddenly expected to function as an adult at a certain age, like legal bullshit is magic). Disaster awaits on that path ...
It was a combination of factors that got us to this point, but the takeaway is that in the US, age of majority has become intertwined with franchise.
You do not want 16 year olds voting. Frankly you shouldn't want people under 30 voting but we play the hand we're given.
Oh, I forgot about voting. That's 18 (and alcohol, tobacco and weed ages are set by the province, but the federal minimum is now 18, too. When I was young, there was no federal minimum age for cigarettes.)
BUT, you can quit school, leave home, rent a place, hold a full-time job, and co-habitate with a sexual partner, and Children's Aid can't touch you. But you were expected to have been trained and educated enough to be able to take care of yourself by that age. And my advice to the young, from experience, isn't to "stay in school", it's to "get a trade", and one that can't be exported.
