I liked it, but I am wondering if I like it due to reading and collecting comic books most of my 40 years.

I think Snyder should work in television.
I actually think DC works better on TV and Marvel works better in theaters, at least for their DCEU attempts, not for the Nolan trilogy or the latest Joker movie. DC on TV’s more lighthearted and campy and it works given the source material. Flash on TV was way better than Flash in this movie. Arrow’s just great for many of the seasons.
Being on TV with lower budgets also forces them to focus on character and story. Although I enjoyed the Snyder version, a good portion of it is overdone battles with hundreds of people that at this point I really give no shits about. It looked like a bunch of dark bugs bopping around, and given the power of all the characters doesn’t make sense since many of them can just level an entire army with a flick of the wrist.
TV’s probably better for most super hero things to save them from their own budgets. The only fight scenes I gave a damn about in this film were the smaller scenes where the water chick went against the big bad, the one at the end where they team up together against him, etc. No fucks given about them having hundreds of AI locus people flopping around in the dark, which is a sentiment that holds true for when Marvel does it too.
