Confirmed my suspicions on the high seas a while back, Ashley Burch turned up in the very first settlement and it immediately set the tone for the mind numbing idiocy of the writing to come.

Speaking of idiocy, I could never shake the feeling that pretty much every character was literally retarded, or at least dissociative and delusional. The weird disconnect between the horrible shit they all saw happening and the bizarre counterproductive actions they took and total lack of self preservation they always showed made all of them seem deranged lunatics, which I get was kind of intended but having an entire star system be nut jobs for no good reason isn't actually good fiction writing.
