I read someone make the observation (that definitely applies to me and a fair number of those I know) that a lot of members of the Credentialed class who end up turning against it are first-generation inductees who became disillusioned by it not living up to the hype. While this doesn't appear to explain Rubin, I'm curious if it rings true to others.
