[meta] Anti-Virus recommendation thread

With Avast blocking the .wins for "phishing" I think it's time for me to change my anti-virus.

Been thinking about switching anyways, the program spies on what you're doing and then recommends products based on your activities which I find rather creepy.

So what's the best free AV these days?

Kaspersky is what I use. Theresa "Coercive Control" May was going to ban it for being "Russian spyware" and as I think everything a feminist does means we should support the opposite, I bought a 3 year subscription and use it on everything.

Edit : Just realised you wanted free, so...sticking with Windows Defender is probably best.
