I think they know, and its why they are seething and ultra-enraged over it.
"YOU CANT DO THAT!! Only WE are allowed to do that! How dare you!"
And I foresee a lot of this sort of "throwing their own absurdity back in their face" thing in the future. Because the amount of people who dont give a damn if you call them the usual Words of Power (racist, sexist, misogynists, etc) is rapidly decreasing. And once you cant just bash people over the head to make them do what you want, they will just make a complete mockery of you and everything you believe in, because they know its stupid.
It's a completely valid tactic, and frustrates our detractors to no end to see their tactics are now their bane.
And here's the misery and logic behind why you'll begin to see it more often coming up:
There's a saying that "Conservatives are just slow LIberals"., and in a way, it's true.
Conservatives are rarely staunch supporters of old values in totality, just the values that existed when they were younger, or in their heyday. And what's becoming more acceptable as the Overton Window shifts ever Left?
I'll give you a hint: Lefty degeneracy and policy.
Combine that with the vast passing of social trends due to the speed at which information flows in our interconnected society, and you'll see that the "right" will begin to more quickly adopt and field the tactics of the "left" against them.
There may be that, but I can tell you another one. I have heard a lot of major Conservative thought leaders start advocating (using the quotes of Dan Bongino from here on out) what they call "battlefield morality." We didnt want to have to fight the culture war, but the Left is forcing us to, so we must put aside our normal rules and morals until the left agrees to play by "Gentlemans Rules" again. How far are they going? Well, Dan has advocated people read Rules for Radicals, and has started to quote it on his show.
Which shows another old saw about the Right/Conservatives: They tend to move slow, but when they start moving it is with the unstoppable force of an avalanche.
I've had others advocate using Rules for Radicals for awhile now - no major thinkers, mind you, but people close to me who were already prepping themselves. So much so that I have a copy in hand.
It always takes a good leader to make the crowd work towards their own benefit, so if it takes the Dan Boingos of the world to make the collective right fight back on equal terms, well, better late than never.

Decades become years become months become weeks.
