How do you respond to people who tell you that you are being selfish if you don’t treat Covid like the zombie apocalypse where millions are dying each day?
I live in Texas and the governor recently lifted the mask mandate. Now a lot of businesses will still require them but so many people are freaking out and local news agencies are only talking to “experts” that think this is a horrible decision. I fear this may cost him the election because now the local and national media will go into hysterics over any cases let alone deaths.
And of course now there are people posting on Facebook that they choose to wear a mask. So virtuous and brave. To me it’s counterproductive to make a fuss at a store about it so I wear it where required but I’m very comfortable going without one.
You could always go with "There is no scientific proof that mask mandates or lockdowns prevent the spread of this disease. There are, in fact multiple studies showing little or no efficacy for either measure. There are, however, countless indicators that these lockdowns are literally killing people. So in reality, I'm not killing grandma, but you are killing everyone else.
