Disagree. Twitter doesn't make money by itself and has to rely on investment or donations to actually generate profit. This is something they've probably had in the works for a long time because of the platform/publisher debate and censorship but hadn't implemented for fear of losing a big chunk of their userbase.
Now that Twitter has been kicking off all the 'controversial' voices, anyone left will probably be less adverse to paying a subscription to see responses from their chosen blue checker and Twitter gets a little cut from the revenue.
And this might prevent people from archiving potentially embarrassing moments from leftists.
