After all, people don't kill themselves because they just did something awesome and cool. They don't go "well, I've peaked, time to clock out while I'm ahead". No, they off themselves after horrific guilt from the actions on their hands. The firefighter who goes "aww yeah, saved my 100th life today" doesn't follow it up with "better kill myself". No, it's the arsonist who can't live with the guilt of what they've done that does so. The concentration camp guard who has an epiphany as to the horrors he has perpetrated.
