Objective reality doesn't need a narrative. The proof of this is objective reality historically worms its way though narratives and breaks them apart the moment they're no longer being draconianly enforced.
Anyone needing a "narrative" is needing a lie, needing an army to fight the concept of objective reality. Facts don't harm points of view that are legitimate.
The last groups to need this were the United Soviet Socialists. Personally, that tells me all I need to know about the idea: That group used it, and the first world didn't, and we've seen the effects of a half-century under both.
