It isn't about the merit of the case (or lack thereof). It's about forcing gun manufacturers to defend themselves in court for huge $$$$$$

Sure, if they get super lucky they might actually win a case that turns into a windfall for some useful idiot, but the goal is to harass, raise prices, and hopefully bankrupt companies.
