Of course to the government elite it's common sense that they be the only ones allowed to have weapons of any sort. The rest of us I guess the best we can do are narwhal tusks.
This school stuff has been used so politically too. I was still in school when the whole Columbine shooting happened. I don't recall any formal discussion about it at school. We most definitely did not ever have any "shooter drills". I don't recall anything even related to the notion that there might be a shooter at our school. Of course that was before they realized it could be used to get in the heads of young people and get them afraid of guns.
I was in school around the same time. The only change made was that we had to wear photo IDs on a lanyard, with the idea that it'd make it easier to spot an intruder. They didn't care for it when I pointed out that the shooters were students and would have had IDs.
