This is the second black dude I heard of playing the role of Joel and why would a black dude even be an option unless they are trying to confuse the 3 fans of the game

Hollywood is very racist, and VERY weirdly sexual. The casting director probably wants to see a black man beaten to death by a... Whatever that thing is. Or maybe he just wants them on the casting couch, and I'm attributing way too much malice.
