We need more good leaders* who see State government as an end to itself instead of a stepping stone to a higher office in the Federal government.
It'd be nice if they were considered completely different jobs requiring completely different skillsets: State focused on inward-facing administration and Federal focused on outward-facing international trade and relations. Sadly that's not the way things are.
* I'm not entirely sold on Noem due to her past support of refugee resettlement, but her response to WuFlu shows she's not hysterical like most of our supposed "leaders"
